The environment

Van den Herik is more than used to working in and around nature in all its guises. The natural environment demands ‘breathing space’. River canalization and the construction of riverside embankments or dikes is necessary to protect people and their economic activity, but the ultimate result depends on the reaction of the natural environment.

Van den Herik has worked in many such places on many environmentally-friendly projects, such as free-flowing side channels, bank protection, other sorts of environmentally-friendly bank protection, islands given over to nature, and remediation work.
