Company profile

Van den Herik-Sliedrecht is a medium-sized player in the hydraulic engineering market, and it is active in Europe and Africa. Our work is inextricably linked with water, and helps create a good 'wet' infrastructure and protection from high tides and flooding. The sort of work we do includes dredging, coastal defences and bank protection, earthworks, construction and maintenance of ports/marinas, locks and weirs, sounding and surveying, and detection of explosives.

The company has a varied fleet of 45 units. With a permanent staff of 120 and others working on an ad hoc basis we have the flexibility to work on complex hydraulic engineering projects, from the drawing board via implementation to maintenance. We work closely with associated companies Schouls and Jaartsveld (both civil engineering contractors), so we are well positioned when it comes to tendering for combined contracts requiring multiple disciplines within the field of civil engineering.

Our strength is our pro-active attitude and reputation for getting things done. Our customers appreciate our creativity (finding alternative solutions), communication (with everyone involved in a project and others affected by it) and craftsmanship. Our employees enjoy their work due to the professionalism of the company, the balance between independent and supervised work, and due to the atmosphere between colleagues.

We are always looking for ways to improve efficiency in how we work and how to deal with those directly affected by our work.
